I'm trying to shop around to get some protection for my new comp. I currently use Norton Antivirus and Zone Alarm Pro (both subscriptions just ran out on Dec 20th) and never have any problems what so ever with pop-ups, viruses, malware, ect.

I'm considering doing the same thing again, however, I've been using this set up since 2001 and I'm sure that this kind of software has come a long way in 5 years.

I'd really like to just use one program to act as both a firewall and antivirus protection.

I've looked at Norton Internet Security 2006, and the newest Mcafee. I've also been looking at Zone Alarm Secruity Suite. I'm worried that norton and mcafee will not have a very strong firewall and likewise I'm wondering about Zone Alarm's anti-virus ability......

So I'd really like some recommendations about current anti-vius/firewall combo software...

Thanks.
You've seen my McAfee!

It's been great so far. Never had a single problem (unless you count that one network thing).
Personally, I don't like all-in-one security suites. It seems like products that are supposed to "do it all" end up doing everyting to a lesser degree than using separate dedicaed apps. Plus what if the entire suite poops the bed, you are left totally unprotected, whereas with separate apps if your firewall poops the bed your av will still work. Just my point of view.

Anyway, for cheap ppl, zone alarm firewall and AVG antivirus (free)

For ppl who want to pay, I use NOD32 antivirus and a hardware firewall (Cisco pix 501) and sometimes zone alarm in conjunction with hardware firewall.
