The past two weeks I have been playing bolth CZ and Source, Does anyone have any suggestions on tweaks for source? My game play is very choppy, and when I get out of source it screws up my video settings. I have to restart my computer for it to go back to normal.
Check your screen rez, and renderer. Also, try doing the video stress test, that helped me a lot.
uh, What is the renderer?

Open GL, D3D (or 3D3 i can't remember which), and software. Its the method in which the game is rendered, its under video options.

D3D for Direct 3D
First off find out what video card you have and download the latest drivers. Then I would recommend using direct 3d. I personally tweak my direct 3d and in-game settings so they match each other ie. I use 1024x768 32 bit color and 85Hz refresh both in windows and in-game. This enables a smooth transition from in-game to windows and you will not have to manually tweak your monitor settings to get an undistorted full screen image in whatever you are running. You should then do the video stress test so that you can optimize in-game setings for maximum fps. I shoot for at least 60. Remember- when you are in a 32 person server surrounded by n00bs lobbing smoke grenades in a fire fight your machine will slow to a crawl. I hope this helps.
I will try that guys, but there's 1 more ques.

If I change the settings on my video card is it gonna stay that way for bolth versions (cz and source)????
You change resolution and color depth in the game itself. Other settings are controlled by your video driver. If you right click on you desktop, go to properties, settings, advanced, monitor you change your desktop refresh rate. If you right click on you desktop, go to properties, settings, advanced, there should be specific options for your video card (ati or nvidia drivers). Options in this area are vast and should affect all games that use that portion of the driver unless it is specified that the settings are to be set in game. Clear as mud, eh?
the windows setings will be the same for both yes if you want some source tweaks il give you some stuff to add to you config file
